It's holiday time! Egg nog, reindeer, festivals of light, peace on earth and, for any small business, time to review the year’s purchasing decisions and set intentions for (hopefully) good times ahead. So, as a small company ourselves and with the season of glad tidings fast-approaching, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on how far Kinnek has come in 2015. We’re also in reflection mode and excited to look ahead at everything in store for next year.
So what does Kinnek have to be thankful for this holiday season? Well, a lot. Seriously. It's amazing to think that a just a few years ago Kinnek was a pipedream for two guys in a coffee shop in New York City. We both wanted to help harness technology for small businesses in a way that had never really been done before. Despite every investor telling us we were crazy(!) we decided to forge ahead to build the early prototype for what is now Kinnek. We’re pretty thankful for being plucky enough to pursue those dreams.
We're also thankful for our experience with Angelpad, the world's foremost startup accelerator. Our time there introduced us to an unbelievable network of founders whom we continue to learn from everyday. It'd be tough to imagine Kinnek being where it is today if we hadn't gotten on that plane to San Francisco back in 2012 to get with the program.
We're absolutely thankful to our investors. Sure, they provided us with funds to continuously take Kinnek to the next level. More than that though they've been a steady hand, providing us with the right advice at the right moment. They’ve helped us avoid a lot of the pitfalls that high-growth technology firms often experience.
While we’re in gratitude mode, let’s not forget our team here at Kinnek. They’re amazing! It’s like we got the world's best Christmas present...in March, April and so on. Humble, genuinely nice, insanely smart and passionate about moving Kinnek forward by helping our customers. It's pretty humbling to come to work every day with people who share that vision for changing the way the economy functions as much as our disdain for the status quo. We're so thankful for them, they really are the lifeblood of Kinnek.
And of course, Kinnek wouldn't be possible without our talented, amazing customers! Every day, we’re astounded by their accomplishments and courageousness to pursue their dreams in the face of considerable difficulties. Each small business and supplier on our marketplace is there because they’re determined to thrive despite the challenges in their way. They inspire us with their kindness or willingness to help. They’re the reason we’re so excited to continue building the best marketplace we possibly can. We want to change the world by making purchasing truly painless for every small business who requests, quotes - or both! - on Kinnek.
This festive season we’re taking time out to wish all our investors, customers, friends and family happy holidays. As 2015 draws to a close and we look forward to 2016, you can expect big things from Kinnek. More on that next week. Teaser: watch out for news on how we're growing our team, investing in technology, design and expanding to new industries- all to further our goal of empowering small businesses to purchase painlessly. Until then, thank you from all of us at Kinnek.
